Privacy Policy

Marqit ("we," "our," "the app") is a daily prediction game at playmarqit.com. This page explains what information we collect, why, and how it's used.

Information we collect

• Account information: your email address, and a username you choose (or that's generated for you).
• Sign-in method: if you sign in with Google, we receive your email address from Google to create your account. We do not receive or store your Google password, contacts, or any other Google account data.
• Profile details you provide: your state, an avatar icon and color, and age confirmation (self-reported; we do not independently verify age).
• Gameplay data: the predictions you make, your streaks, points, and group memberships.
• Notification preferences: whether you've opted in to result emails or browser push notifications, and (if you enable push) your browser's permission status for notifications.

How we use this information

• To operate the core game: showing your predictions, scoring them, and running leaderboards.
• To send you result emails, if you haven't opted out, and streak/recap notifications if you've opted in.
• To let you sign in and keep your account secure.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Marqit widgets on other websites

Some websites that partner with us show a Marqit prediction question on their pages. You do not need an account to answer one. When you see or answer a widget question, we collect:

• A random anonymous ID created by the widget and stored in your browser's local storage on that site. It is not your name, email, or account, and it is used only to count each person once, remember that you already voted, and limit abuse. Most browsers keep this ID separate on each website, so it usually cannot be used to follow you from one site to another.
• Your answer and the date and time you gave it.
• The partner site and page the question was shown on, so we can show that partner how their readers responded.
• A comment, and the display name you type with it, if you choose to post one. Comments are reviewed before they appear and may be hidden or removed. Do not put personal information in a comment, because approved comments are visible to other readers.

The widget does not use advertising cookies, does not track you across other websites, and we do not sell this information. Partners receive only totals and approved comments for their own site, never individual IDs. You can clear the anonymous ID at any time by clearing your browser's site data. To ask us to delete a comment, email [email protected] with the page address and the comment text.

Sharing

We use the following third-party services to operate Marqit, each of which processes data on our behalf:

• Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication (including Google sign-in).
• Resend — delivers transactional emails (result notifications, password resets).
• Google — provides the optional "Sign in with Google" option.

Your username and gameplay activity may be visible to other users through leaderboards and group features. Your email address is never shown to other users.

Your choices

• You can turn off result emails at any time from the unsubscribe link in any email, or from your profile settings.
• You can turn off push notifications at any time in your browser's site settings.
• You can update your state at any time from your profile.

Children's privacy

Marqit is not directed to children under 13, and we ask users to confirm they meet our minimum age requirement when they sign up. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Data retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us using the information below.
